Dr Eugene Pretorius
MBChB (Pretoria), MBA (Texas)
General Practitioner — Integrative Medicine
IPTLD Certified · ACAM Chelation Trained
Registered Medical Practitioner — South Africa
With more than 25 years of experience in private practice, Dr Pretorius has dedicated his career to finding gentler, more personalised approaches to cancer treatment and chronic disease management. His practice at Cancer SA in Centurion combines the rigour of conventional medical training with evidence-informed integrative therapies.
Dr Pretorius qualified as a medical doctor with his MBChB degree from the University of Pretoria — one of South Africa's leading medical schools. He spent his early career in conventional general practice, treating the full spectrum of conditions that walk through a GP's door. But over time, he grew frustrated by the limitations of a system that often treated symptoms without addressing root causes. Patients with chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, and cancer deserved more than repeat prescriptions and referrals. That frustration became the turning point that led him toward integrative medicine — a discipline that asks "why" before it asks "what."
Determined to offer his patients something better, Dr Pretorius travelled to Mexico to train directly with the original practitioners of Insulin Potentiation Therapy Low Dose (IPTLD) — a method that uses insulin to enhance the delivery of low-dose chemotherapy to cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue. He also completed advanced chelation therapy training through the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), a US-based organisation recognised as the gold standard for training physicians in chelation, nutritional medicine, and integrative protocols. ACAM has trained thousands of doctors worldwide in evidence-based complementary approaches that go far beyond what conventional medical school covers.
"I became a doctor because I wanted to help people heal — not just manage their decline," says Dr Pretorius. "When I saw what integrative therapies could do for patients who had been told there was nothing left to try, I knew this was the path I was meant to follow. Every patient who walks into my practice is a whole person — with a history, a family, fears, and hopes. My job is to listen, to understand, and to build a treatment plan that supports the body's own ability to fight and recover. That is what medicine should be."
Qualifications & Training
Treatment Philosophy
"First, do no harm. The body has an innate ability to heal — our role as physicians is to support that process, remove obstacles to recovery, and treat the whole person, not merely the disease."
Dr Pretorius believes that cancer treatment should not destroy quality of life. His approach centres on therapies that target disease while preserving the patient's strength, immunity, and daily functioning. Every protocol is individualised — because no two patients, and no two cancers, are alike.
Cancer SA — Our Ethos
Cancer SA was founded on a simple conviction: patients deserve treatment options that are kinder, gentler, and more personal. Based in Centurion, Gauteng, the practice offers out-patient integrative cancer care — including IPTLD low-dose chemotherapy, mega-dose IV Vitamin C, ozone therapy, hyperthermia, chelation therapy, and Circulating Tumour Cell (CTC) testing.
Every patient who walks through our doors is treated as an individual. We take the time to listen, to understand your diagnosis, your concerns, and your goals. Treatment protocols are designed around you — not the other way around.
Our commitment extends beyond cancer care. We also offer chelation therapy for heart disease and heavy metal toxicity, bio-oxidation therapy, and a range of integrative wellness treatments for patients seeking a holistic path to better health.

Your First Consultation
We understand that walking into a new doctor's office — especially when you are dealing with a serious diagnosis — can feel overwhelming. Here is exactly what to expect so there are no surprises.
When You Walk In
You will be welcomed into a calm, private consultation room — not a rushed waiting room. Dr Pretorius sees a limited number of patients each day because every consultation deserves proper time and attention. You are encouraged to bring a family member or support person with you.
The Consultation (1-2 Hours)
Your first visit is not a 15-minute appointment. Expect to spend approximately one to two hours with Dr Pretorius. He will review your complete medical history, examine any scans, blood work, biopsy reports, and pathology results you bring along. He will ask about your lifestyle, diet, stress levels, and what treatments you have already tried. This is a conversation, not an interrogation — he wants to understand the full picture of your health, not just your diagnosis.
Additional Testing
Depending on your condition, Dr Pretorius may order additional tests to build a clearer picture before designing your treatment plan. These may include Circulating Tumour Cell (CTC) testing to identify which substances your specific cancer cells respond to, a heavy metal challenge test to measure your toxic metal burden, comprehensive blood panels, and other investigations as needed. Not every patient requires every test — it depends entirely on your situation.
Your Treatment Plan
Once Dr Pretorius has all the information he needs, he will sit down with you and explain — in plain language — what he recommends and why. You will receive a clear, individualised treatment plan that outlines the therapies, the expected timeline, and the costs involved. There is no pressure. You are free to take the plan home, discuss it with your family, and ask as many questions as you need before deciding.
From Consultation to Treatment
For most patients, treatment can begin within one to two weeks of the initial consultation — sometimes sooner if urgency is required, or slightly longer if we are waiting for test results. The timeline depends on the complexity of your case and the tests that need to be completed. We move as quickly as your situation requires, but never at the expense of thoroughness.
